Blog Journal 8
In the past, I have never been required to create a website on my own. I have done so for group projects and organizations in high school, but this Web Design assignment was quite different. In addition to creating the website, I had to put myself in a real- life educator's shoes and come up with what I believe might be useful information to present on the website for students and parents to see. I found that once I got used to the different tools, Weebly was very useful. I am glad that I learned how to design the different pages and how to link them all together because I definitely see this being a useful skill in the future. If/when I become a teacher, a website is something I would definitely incorporate as a communication tool in my class. A link to my website is here.
After continuing to work with the program Diigo, I have learned to use more tools. I recently learned both how to annotate the sources posted, and also how to add sticky notes to them in the group page. Knowing how to annotate a source in a way that is visible by the whole group is helpful because it allows you to direct the viewer's attention to specific, important points in the article. Posting sticky notes has a similar effect, allowing you to make comments on the actual writing in the article.
As a teacher, it is important for one to stay up to date with changes in subject matter knowledge, teaching strategies, and technological improvements. Technology, in particular, continues to become more and more integrated into classroom learning. With this comes new forms of technology and various ways to use them. There are resources that can help teachers keep up with all these changes, such as social media accounts/groups, technology webinars, and educational blogs. The website Free Technology for Teachers is a blog run by a high school computer science teacher and its purpose is to assist teachers in developing interesting ways to use technology in their classrooms.
Hey Sara!
ReplyDeleteYour website is really awesome. The contrast of colors, using dark on light backgrounds and vice versa, makes it very easy to navigate and find necessary information. I also liked how you aligned your information for sources next to each other and included a picture for each source. This made it really easy to see all the sources provided and displayed an image to match the source. Overall, great job! Your site looks amazing.
