Blog Journal 8     In the past, I have never been required to create a website on my own. I have done so for group projects and organizations in high school, but this Web Design assignment was quite different. In addition to creating the website, I had to put myself in a real- life educator's shoes and come up with what I believe might be useful information to present on the website for students and parents to see. I found that once I got used to the different tools, Weebly was very useful. I am glad that I learned how to design the different pages and how to link them all together because I definitely see this being a useful skill in the future. If/when I become a teacher, a website is something I would definitely incorporate as a communication tool in my class. A link to my website is here .      After continuing to work with the program Diigo, I have learned to use more tools. I recently learned both how to annotate the sources posted, and also how to a...

Blog Journal #7     After viewing a few different school websites, I decided to write about the one for Bond Elementary School . When looking at their home page, there is a menu tab for "Classes & Programs," which allows you to click on a variety of different options. Once selecting a class, the teacher's page follows. Some of the information present on these pages is meet the teacher, announcements, assignments, student resources, and a calendar. Each teacher appears to utilize their page in a similar way, but with information pertaining to the specific class. Students use all of this information to ensure that they keep up to date with their responsibilities.     If/when I become an educator in the future, I definitely envision myself using technology to accomplish my responsibilities in an efficient and effective way. One tool that I would definitely use is a teacher website containing all of the most important information that my students and their pare...
Blog Journal #6     Diigo is a tool that I was never introduced to before beginning this course, so I was unfamiliar with it at the start. Without the tutorials posted for us in the weekly modules, I definitely would have difficulty completing the tasks. Now that we have had a few scenarios of practice with bookmarking websites, I feel comfortable doing it on my own. I like that each student can post articles and share them with the group, because it creates a beneficial shared space for relevant information. Being able to annotate articles and add short descriptions also helps to navigate the site. In my opinion the website could be more user- friendly, but it is nothing to stress about after watching tutorials.     Blogging is also something that I have never been required to do for a class, nor have I done it for reasons outside of school. I definitely think blogging each week is helpful to reflect on what we have done and what new tools we have been introdu...

Blog Journal #5          When it comes to using Twitter, I have actually had a personal account for about 5 years. I typically use it to follow friends and keep up to date with the news, but don't post my own tweets very often. After making my new Twitter account for this class, I followed several accounts such as ones belonging to my classmates, news accounts, educational organizations, etc. I have been going on this account daily and reading all of the new tweets put out by the people I follow. I find this is an effective way to stay updated with current news, both inside and outside of a school setting. I believe Twitter can be beneficial in my future career because you can really easily target the content that you see. I would be able to follow and interact with teachers everywhere, and we could all share useful information on our feeds. Twitter chats would also allow for great communication because you can use specific hashtags at specific times to co...
