Hi, my name is Sara Hirschfeld and I'm a senior here at FSU. I'm a fourth year psychology major and am also completing a minor in education. Something I've always been very interested in and may want to pursue a career in is school psychology, hence my major and minor choices. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and have never lived anywhere else. I have always enjoyed south Florida and definitely see myself there after college.
Before the pandemic hit in 2020, I had only had very base- level experience using technology in a school setting. In high school my teachers relied more on textbooks and scantron exams rather than online learning and test- taking. This has massively changed in the past year and a half due to school having to be completely online. Virtual class, advising, and group work have now become the norm. I prefer in person learning, but technology definitely made a lot of things possible that wouldn't have been without it.
My personal learning network is made up of the people around me, online groups and websites, social media accounts, extracurricular clubs, etc. Something I am very interested in and love to learn about is criminology. I use social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram to get documentary and article recommendations. There are also many Facebook groups revolved around criminology that I keep up to date with.
Do you also tweet or upload posts to Facebook groups sometimes? It's interesting that you have been building your PLN for Criminology. Do you also have PLN for your psychology major or for your teaching career? We will practice building PLN as a future educator in this class. Blog is one of those PLN activities.
ReplyDeleteI typically use the Facebook groups to read other peoples' posts rather than publish my own, however that is something that I would like to do more often. I look forward to building my PLN further and creating new ones altogether!
DeleteHey Sara! That's so cool that you're from Miami, I have friends from there :) Completely online school is really hard, I'm glad we're back in person!
ReplyDeleteHey Sara!! I think it's interesting you've always lived in the same place, I'm the same way! I also relate to my teachers not really relying on online resources to teach. It was a massive shift to go to online learning.
